Should you publish every Faire retailer on a public map?
October 2026
A Faire order history is a customer list. A "where to buy" map is a public page. Putting one on the other is a choice you make, not a default, and a few minutes of checking first keeps it from going wrong. This page is a checklist of what to look at. It is not legal advice.
What a Faire retailer list contains
If you build the map with Faire Connect (in beta and switched on per store), Nearmio creates one location per retailer from your order history. Each one carries:
- A name. The retailer's company name. If Faire has no company name for an order, Nearmio falls back to the buyer's first and last name, then to the name on the shipping address. So a retailer without a company name can appear on your map under a person's name.
- An address from the shipping address on the orders.
- A phone number, where Faire has one.
- Product tags for what they ordered (up to eight), which you can switch off.
Retailers who only ever cancelled, and retailers with no address, are left out. If you use the CSV route instead, the list is whatever you keep from your own export, so you decide each row.
On the published map, shoppers see the name, address, phone number and opening hours on the cards and popups. Nearmio also publishes the locations as a crawlable page on your own domain. Anything you put on the list is public.
Residential and mixed addresses
A shipping address is not always a shop. It can be a stockroom, an office or a home. Faire labels each shipping address as residential, commercial or mixed. Faire Connect uses a retailer's most recent address that is not residential, and leaves out a retailer whose only address is residential. That is the default; there is a checkbox to include them, and we would leave it off.
Two limits to know about:
- Mixed addresses are kept. Only residential-only retailers are skipped, so a mixed address, which can be a home with a business in it, still ends up on the list.
- The label is Faire's best guess. A missing label counts as usable. It is a filter, not a guarantee.
A home address on a public map shows where a person lives. That is the reason to skip them, whatever Faire's label says. If a pin lands on the wrong spot or on a stockroom, here is how to fix a pin.
Retailer consent and Faire's terms: check first
We read the Faire documents below as Faire published them in October 2026, looking for anything about a brand showing its retailers' names or addresses on its own website.
| Faire document | What we found |
|---|---|
| Brand Terms of Service (Faire Wholesale B.V. version, last updated 15 April 2026) | Nothing on publishing retailer names or addresses, either way. The nearest text is about Faire's email tools: "account leads must be sourced by you directly" and "the tools are not to be used for spam". |
| Retailer Terms of Service (Faire Wholesale B.V. version, last updated 15 April 2026) | Nothing on brands showing their retailers publicly. |
| Privacy Policy | Says information about a business "may be displayed or made available to other users of the Services". That describes use inside Faire. It says nothing about a brand's own website. |
None of these says a brand may publish its Faire retailers, and none says it may not. Silence is not permission. Faire publishes different terms for different regions, and we could not open every version or Faire's help articles, so the terms that apply to your account may read differently. Read yours, and ask Faire support or a lawyer if you need a firm answer.
Faire's terms are one question. The retailers are another. An order tells you a shop bought from you. It does not tell you the shop is happy to appear on your website with its address and phone number. For key accounts, or anyone you are unsure about, ask first.
If a retailer asks to come off the map
Nearmio has no retailer opt-out setting today, so removal is manual:
- Delete the location in the Nearmio app (open the location and choose Delete location).
- Faire Connect: a deleted retailer comes back the next time you press Import again, unless their orders no longer qualify (for example, all cancelled) or your plan is full. Check the list after every import, and delete them again if they return.
- CSV: remove their row from your file before you re-upload it.
A practical filter before you publish
- Leave the residential checkbox off.
- Skim every mixed address, and every entry whose name looks like a person's.
- Skim the names and phone numbers. Remove anything you would not put on a flyer.
- Look at each pin on the map before the page goes live.
- Ask your key accounts, and anyone you are unsure about, before you list them.
- Check the list again after every Import again.
Nearmio is free for up to 5 locations, with no Google API key to set up.
