Import any stockist spreadsheet into Nearmio with Shopify Sidekick

October 2026

The spreadsheet of your stockists already exists. It is the export from your wholesale platform, the sheet your sales rep keeps, or the list your distributor sent over. What it is not is a file in the layout a store-locator app wants: the columns have different names, the city and state share a cell, half the rows have no country because everyone knew it was Australia.

That used to mean twenty minutes of renaming headers and splitting columns before you could even see whether the import would work. Now you can hand the file to Shopify Sidekick, the AI assistant built into your Shopify admin, and let it do the mapping.

What Sidekick knows about Nearmio

Nearmio gives Sidekick a read-only tool that describes exactly what the import accepts: the columns, every alternative header name it understands, what a row needs before a pin can be placed, how tags are written, and how many locations your plan has room for. Sidekick reads a file you attach in chat, calls that tool, and compares the two.

Nothing is written back. Sidekick cannot add, change or delete locations in Nearmio, and it asks your permission the first time it wants to use a Nearmio tool in a conversation.

How to do it

  1. Open Sidekick in your Shopify admin and attach your spreadsheet (CSV works best).
  2. Ask: "Check this file against what Nearmio needs to import my stores."
  3. Read the report. Sidekick tells you which of your columns map to which Nearmio column, which it could not place, and which rows are missing something, with row numbers.
  4. Fix anything it flagged, or ask: "Write the rows out in Nearmio's layout." Sidekick gives you the rows as CSV in the template's column order. Paste them into a file.
  5. Open Locations ▸ Import from CSV in Nearmio, upload the file, and check the preview. Every row is shown as new, update, duplicate or invalid before anything is committed.

What a mapping looks like

A typical export from a wholesale platform comes back from Sidekick like this:

The gaps are the point. Nearmio's own preview would reject those 38 rows as invalid, but it would do so after you had uploaded the file. Sidekick tells you before, in plain words, and can write the corrected rows for you.

What Sidekick does not do

Sidekick can also tell you whether a particular store is on your map, which pins need fixing, and answer questions from Nearmio's help center. The full list is in Asking Shopify Sidekick about your locations.
